Overview

Portfolio v1 was my first personal website — a multi-page site built entirely from scratch with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It served as both a learning exercise and a genuine attempt at building a professional online presence early in my engineering studies.

The site included a homepage, portfolio section, services page, team page, and contact form. Everything was hand-coded: the navigation, layout, responsive styling, and basic interactivity. There were no frameworks, no component libraries — just fundamentals. The site was deployed via GitHub Pages and lived at dominiccastaneda.com before being replaced by the current portfolio.

Looking back, Portfolio v1 was where I learned that design decisions are just as important as code decisions. Getting the layout to look right, making the navigation intuitive, and structuring content for a real audience pushed me to think like both a developer and a user. It was the foundation that made Portfolio v2 possible.
